For the better part of the last decade, an increased use of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (“UAS”), or drones, in the telecommunications industry has allowed stakeholders from across the supply chain to explore new approaches to analytics throughout asset life cycles. The ability of a UAS to capture comprehensive visual data of tower assets has made it a valuable tool for the industry, allowing teams to augment workflows, reduce redundant site visits, and maximize the value of each touchpoint on antenna supporting structures. The purpose of this White Paper is to share with the reader the background of UAS based use cases, the capabilities and limitations of the technology, and the use cases they enable today as defined by the requirements of the ANSI/TIA-222-H Standard.
